How Perseverance Works
If You Want to Change the World, Be Prepared to Be Tested
On a personal level, my mission is to reshape the way we approach our challenges and break free from the confines of a victim mentality.
As I prepare to share about myself on my website, it's essential to understand that the current phase of my life presents the most profound tests and trials I've ever encountered. I’ve been remembering I CAN NOT grow as an individual if I stay in my comfort zone.
I’m always learning along with you all as I write every week, this one just hits very close to home.
The path to meaningful change is never easy. It's riddled with challenges, obstacles, and uncertainties. But remember, these tests are not roadblocks; they're opportunities to prove your resilience and determination. Research in psychology and neuroscience reveals that the willingness to embrace adversity is a common trait among successful change-makers.
Smart, Hardworking, and Resilient
There's a crucial distinction between intelligence, hard work, and resilience. While intelligence and diligence are undoubtedly important, resilience—often referred to as grit—is the glue that holds it all together.
Studies have found that grit, which involves a strong passion and unwavering persistence in pursuing long-term goals, is a strong indicator of future success.
The Power of Grit
Accountability and Self-Belief
People with grit don't shy away from challenges; they embrace them. They take accountability for their actions and setbacks, recognizing that failure is a stepping stone to success.
This mindset shift is grounded in research that highlights the positive correlation between grit and self-regulation, leading to increased accountability.
Holding Your Destiny
Gritty individuals, with their unwavering determination and resilience, firmly grasp the notion that their destiny is firmly within their control.
They refuse to be mere bystanders, passively responding to the whims of circumstances; instead, they boldly take charge and mold their own path. Extensive research conducted in the realm of behavioral psychology has UNEQUIVOCALLY demonstrated that those possessing grit possess an elevated sense of self-determination.
This invaluable trait empowers them to skillfully maneuver through the labyrinth of obstacles that life throws their way, all while steadfastly keeping their gaze fixed upon the distant horizon of their long-term aspirations.
Your Journey to Grit
Cultivating Perseverance
Perseverance and grit, two remarkable qualities that can truly transform individuals, are not innate but rather can be nurtured and developed over time.
To develop these important qualities, start by setting clear, long-term goals. Break them down into smaller, easier tasks.
As you move forward, you'll make progress and become more resilient and determined. This will help you overcome any obstacles that come your way.
You have to be okay with things not going exactly as you plan, because things will ALWAYS come up that you never expected.
Remember everyone, just take one more step… then another after that… then one more after that. You can do what your mind deems impossible if you unhinge the self limiting beliefs you have in yourself.
Once you lose your spirit, you lose the war. Keep pushing.
The Assignment
For this week, the assignment that I have for you is not something that you can physically hold or touch.
Instead, I want you to take a moment to relax and deeply contemplate on the things that you have been avoiding or shying away from.
Dive into the depths of your thoughts and ask yourself the crucial question of why you feel the need to persist and continue moving forward.
Furthermore, I want you to explore the reasons behind why it is absolutely vital for you to surpass what you perceive as your 'limits'.
Take this opportunity to truly understand the motivations that drive you and the significance of pushing yourself beyond what you thought was possible.
